Biking to Alibaug

My collegue Bala asked me about the Alibaug plan. I was a little dicey about the permission from Parants. Thankfully they allowed and I was off to Alibaug once again.

Bala and his colony ppl were the plan makers. I was to join them on the way.

I started early in the morning from Goregaon. Quickly reached Mankhurd on the New mumbai highway. Those guys arrived in a short time. Total 5 bikes including mine and 10 guys.

We started of and reached NH4-NH17 junction. This was the first stop. After this the road is beauty...Just keep the throttle up and zooooom. No need to slow down.

We took next stop at Vadkhal naka for a lovely Misal Paav and tea. The team geared up for the Alibaug road quickly. Me and Bala were on my bike. As we took the road, I realised that there is something wrong, and it was indeed. Rear tyre went flat. We checked up, but there was no tyre service close by. We decided to push along. It was 9.15 in the morning and the shops were still not open. Thankfully after a kilometre, we found the garage.

While we were getting the bike fixed, team had already reached the resort. We joined them after the delay. The resort was not a professional one. Infact it was the house of a local fellow with small farm and guest cottage. The farm had a small river flowing by.

We took a small walk round the farm across the river, nothing exciting. So we returned to farm and jumped into the river. Had a very good time there. After some time I got out and rested into the hammocks.

Lunch was simply great. We had choice between veg and non-veg. I tasted both the varieties and found it was superb. Visiting the place just for the food is not a bad choice at all.

After little resting, we left the place for Alibaug beach. The beach has the Alibaug fort to visit. We didnt have much time to see the fort but we walked. The fort is little away from the shore and only on low tide it can be visited without boats. Despite surrounded by salty water, the fort as a small well built pond for drinking water. There is a small Ganesh temple and old cannons on the sidewall.

We left the place just before the sunset. While we returned, due to a small goof up, it became very dark. Riding on the highway with the small portion of the road visible, while the trucks coming your way with full blast of headlamps is scary as well as adventurous. Not for the faint-hearted and wimpy riders.

Before we reached Panvel, I was lagging behind. We stopped at Panvel and then I took off ahead. Zoomed in the traffic of Vashi and reached home via lovely Array road to Goregaon at 10 in night.
